Early Literacy Resources

The Fairfax County Public Library supports your effort in getting children ready to read. Child care providers and parents can use many library resources with children under the age of five.

Ready to Read Resources

Library books, songs, fingerplays and websites for a variety of themes.

Early Literacy Book Bags

Each book bag has between 10-20 books, and sets with more than one kit have many of the same titles. These kits are not available at any branch; you must put them on hold. To place on hold, click on a book bag’s title. This will take you to the library catalog.

Early Literacy Presentation Handouts

The library offers monthly professional development classes for child care providers. Send an email to LIBearlyliteracy@fairfaxcounty.gov to receive information about classes.
