Information

  • Reservations may be made for the current month plus the next two consecutive months.
  • The maximum number of reservations per person is one in seven days. The frequency of reservations may be further limited during peak demand hours and may vary by library.
  • Meeting rooms are available only during regular operating hours, with the exception of rooms at the Burke Centre, Centreville Regional, City of Fairfax Regional, Dolley Madison, George Mason Regional, Great Falls, Herndon Fortnightly, Kings Park, Oakton, Patrick Henry, Reston Regional, and Tysons-Pimmit Regional libraries. These libraries have expanded meeting room hours Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday at regional libraries only from noon to 6:00 p.m.
  • Meeting room requests are reviewed by library staff to ensure they adhere to library meeting room rules. Requests submitted online will be handled within 48 hours with the exception of library closing days.
  • Meeting rooms are held for a maximum of 30 minutes after the scheduled start of the meeting.
  • Assistive listening devices for the deaf or hard of hearing are available at some branches, and may also be borrowed from the library's Access Services branch; call 703-324-8380 or TTY 703-324-8365 to make arrangements. If special accommodations are needed, please call the branch.
  • Cancelling a room reservation may be done either online or by contacting the branch.
  • The Fire Marshal has posted the legal audience capacity for all meeting rooms.
  • The library does not provide media equipment or computers for use in the meeting rooms.
  • Wireless Internet access is available at all library branches.

Meeting rooms are available during regular operating hours.

Additionally, Burke Centre, Dolley Madison, Great Falls, Herndon Fortnightly, Kings Park, Oakton, and Patrick Henry libraries have meeting rooms available:

  • Meeting rooms are available for expanded hours. Conference rooms at the City of Fairfax Regional, Herndon Fortnightly, and Great Falls libraries are available for expanded hours.
  • Meeting rooms are not available on county holidays.
  • Organizations must request before or after hours access to meeting rooms at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. Arrangements will be made for the organization's representative to receive the meeting room key during the library's regular operating hours, at least one hour prior to closing.
  • All user group representatives will be provided with an orientation regarding the use of the meeting room, to include responsibility for disseminating information to the other user group members related to emergency evacuation routes and procedures for entering/leaving the premises. If the organization's representative does not contact the library to set up this meeting, the room reservation will be canceled.
  • Specific after hours use availabilities at these libraries:
    Burke Centre -- meeting room 116/117 only.
    Centreville Regional -- meeting room 1/2 only.
    City of Fairfax Regional -- meeting room A/B only.
    Herndon Fortnightly -- meeting room 1/2 only.
    Oakton -- meeting room 1/2 only.
    Reston Regional -- meeting room 1/2 only.
  • These guidelines supplement but do not supersede the "Meeting Room Policy" established by the Fairfax County Library Board of Trustees and revised in June 2007.
