. . . and you’ve got library items on hold. Don’t lose your place in the queue or miss your hold! Ask that your hold be suspended until you return. Suspending your hold will keep your place in line, yet allow others behind you to have their copies. When you return, simply unsuspend your hold, and you are in the same place in the queue as before you left. To suspend a hold you may speak with a librarian at any branch or at Ask A Librarian.
Other things to do before you leave:
- Stop the mail.
- Stop the newspaper.
- Pay upcoming bills that can’t wait.
- Update e-mail with absence notification.
- Update work voicemail with absence notification.
- Remove non-essentials from wallet or purse.
- Record the ID numbers of credit and debit cards and your passport, and include the phone numbers for reporting them lost or stolen. Put this list in a location other than your wallet or purse.
- Put your name and destination telephone number inside each piece of luggage.
- Record emergency numbers to leave with neighbors, relatives, and pet boarding facilities.
Now lock the front door and enjoy your vacation!
