Title: Outreach Coordinator African American
Community

Supervisor: Director of Volunteer Programs
Length of Commitment: At least a year
Time Involvement: 3-4 hours per week.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Volunteer Programs,
develops strategies for involving African-American individuals,
organizations, and businesses in library programs and
services. Works with library staff to develop contacts
and advertise opportunities to the African-American community.
Major Responsibilities:
Does community research to develop contacts. Communicates
with the African-American community via phone, e-mail,
and personal contact. Alerts Volunteer Office, PIO, and
other departments of ways to communicate with the African-American
community. May make announcements for the Library at community
meetings and programs.
Qualifications:
Experience in interacting with the African-American community.
Good interpersonal and speaking skills. Able to navigate
the Internet and use e-mail.
