Position Title: Summer Reading Program Intern

Branch: Positions available at several branches.

Department: Children's Department.

Supervisor: Children's Department Head

Length of Commitment: 8 - 12 week summer position, beginning mid-May

Time Involvement: Hours to be discussed with applicant

Position Summary
:
The intern will join the children's department staff in implementing their Summer Reading Program for grades K-12.

Major Responsibilities:
Monitors young adult volunteers, who will be registering younger children for the Summer Reading Program and performing other kinds of volunteer duties. Hosts and assists with children's programs, including story times and crafts. Assists with the maintenance of the picture book area, including shelving, creating book displays, and designing visual aids.

Qualifications:
Energetic personality, creative talents, works well with children and their parents, good decision-making skills, some knowledge of children's literature.
