Nikii Frank
Nikii Frank had been a long time
customer at the Dolley Madison Library when, during one of her visits in
2004, she went in search of bargains in the used book sale area. She was
surprised to see the books gone and the area empty. Nikii
inquired and learned that the volunteer who had maintained the used book
sale area could no longer continue. She immediately offered to help
and has been volunteering at the library ever since.
Every week Nikii is at the library sorting through donated books and keeping the book sale area shelves stocked and organized. By now, she has developed a good sense of what will and will not sell. Nikki tries to keep a book on the shelves no longer than three weeks, assuring that customers always will have a fresh selection of books to browse.
Nikii loves Dolley Madison’s newly renovated layout and atmosphere as well as a library staff that makes her volunteer work so enjoyable. “They are always so complimentary and appreciative of the work I do.” During Nikii’s tenure as a volunteer she’s experienced many staff changes, including four branch managers, who have “all been fantastic to work with.” According to Nikii, “I have the best volunteer job in the world!”
