Archery Program Times

Archery groups will have access to their selected location Monday through Saturday during the Archery Program. Legal hunting hours in Virginia are 30 minutes hour prior to sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset.

Archery Safety Brief

All archery group participants are required to attend a 2-hour Archery Safety Brief prior to participating in the Archery Program.

Important site-specific information will be provided including Archery Program Rules and assigned park restrictions.

Archery Safety Brief attendance is MANDATORY for all participants and is carefully monitored/recorded by the Fairfax County Wildlife Biologist.

Archery Safety Brief Dates

Selected Archery groups will be advised of their group’s Safety Brief date, time, and location upon confirmation of the group’s selection to participate in the 2012 Archery Program.

If an Archery group participant is unable or unwilling to attend the Archery Safety Brief, they will be disqualified from participating in the Archery Program.

Archery Safety Briefs for the 2012 Archery Program will be conducted on the following dates:

  • Saturday, August 27, 2011
  • Sunday, August 28, 2011
  • Saturday, September 10, 2011
  • Sunday, September 11, 2011

Archery Program Public Information Meetings

Archery Program Public Information Meetings were conducted in each Board of Supervisor’s District where park sites have been selected for the FY12 Archery Program (Deer Management Program). Archery Program Public information Meetings for the 2011/2012 Fairfax County Archery Program were conducted in August 2011. These public meetings are held at District Governmental Centers, or a central location, as a community outreach and public education tool for residents.
