What Is Required to Install a Level 2 Charging Station?
You must obtain an electrical permit to install a home or commercial Level 2 charging station. A building permit is also required if a concrete pad is needed. Homeowners, licensed contractors and authorized agents can obtain both permits from the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services. The fee for residential and commercial permits plus an inspection is $85.
Are There Public Charging Stations in Fairfax County?
Currently, there are only a few public charging stations in Fairfax County, but that is likely to change over the next several years. Government agencies, such as the U.S. Department Energy, are providing grants and incentives to electric vehicle equipment manufacturers, municipal governments, employers and retail businesses to install public charging stations.
