In 2007 Fairfax County partnered with the Sierra Club and counties from around the country to create the Cool Counties program to empower counties to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight global warming.
Cool Counties focuses on steps local governments can take to reduce emissions, while recognizing that climate stabilization requires comprehensive and aggressive federal legislation. By partnering with local civic associations, local governments can help provide the tools that citizens need to reduce their carbon footprint.
Cool Neighborhoods is designed to empower local communities to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Without partnership of the community, Fairfax County will not be able to achieve the Cool Counties objectives adopted by the Board of Supervisors. I hope that this template provides you and your neighbors with the information you need, and I look forward to our continued partnership as we strive to combat global warming.
