Data Quality Information

    Attribute Accuracy:
Attribute Accuracy Report: Attributes checked by plotting outlines of three boundaries with their attributes. They were all correct. Check was by visual inspection.
    Logical Consistency Report:
Various Arc/Info commands have been used to determine the logical consistency of the data. Once the layer was created, the build command was used to create the polygon topology. If lines were found that did not intersect, they were manually broken to create a node. Dangling arcs were removed if found. Attributes were inspected using the frequency command to ensure valid values.
Completeness Report: Data set is complete.
    Positional Accuracy:
      Horizontal Positional Accuracy:
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report: Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data is tested by visual comparison of the source with hard copy plots.

      Process Step:
        Process Description:
The Dial -a -Ride Boundaries (1-66 and Shirley Highway.) were created to achieve two purposes:1) Encourage riders to take shorter trips. The fare is $1, with an additional $ 1 each time one of these boundaries is crossed. Some sites (Fairfax Hospital, Springfield Mall) are considered to be in two zones. However as a rule, we want our riders to stay within their zone. This achieves two purposes: we can provide more short rides with a given number of buses than long rides; and we reduce the number of times we must cross an interstate (which always involves delays). 2) At the time Dial-a-Ride was created, we had buses based at three sites-one in each zone. By encouraging riders to stay within their zone, it allowed us to route buses more efficiently. This policy has enabled FASTRAN to consistently schedule between 3 and 3 1/2 boarding's per each hour of a Dial-a-Ride service - double the productivity experienced by service in other cities.
