      Abstract:
        This layer contains cadastral information for Fairfax County, Virginia. This includes, but is not limited to the portrayal of polygonal features (such as parcels, subdivisions and easements), text (parcel numbers, street names and addresses), and symbols (parkland, schools, “double circles”, etc.). This layer was initially developed as a digital copy of the ink-on-mylar property maps maintained by the County since the early 1960's.
      Purpose:
        This layer was created to depict subdivided land, parcels, rights-of-way, and easements created by recorded documents (deeds and plats) within the County of Fairfax. Primary purpose of this data is the graphic portrayal of land parcels and their spatial relationships throughout Fairfax County. Secondary uses of this data are as a backdrop for other large-scale data sets such as Zoning, Soils, Resource Protection areas, etc.

    Data Set Credit:
      The data set was created by Analytical Surveys Incorporated (ASI) and Landata under contract to Fairfax County. Quality control checks were performed by Engineering Systems Incorporated and Dewberry and Davis. Staff from the GIS branch were also used for quality control checking.

    Attribute Accuracy:
      Attribute Accuracy Report:
        Attribute accuracy was tested by comparing the values of the attributes with REABS data. The draw symbol attribute was checked by plotting the features on the standard map product and ensuring the features appeared and were drawn correctly.
    Logical Consistency Report:
      Segments making up the outer and inner boundaries of a polygon tie end-to-end to completely enclose the area. No duplicate features exist. Intersecting lines are separated into individual line segments at the point of intersection. All nodes are represented by a single coordinate pair, which indicates the beginning or end of a line segment. Logical consistency was tested by visual inspection and automated quality control procedures.
    Completeness Report: Continually being updated. Errors being corrected as they are found. Resolving missing parcels by comparing to DTA CAMA data. QC of data being done prior to updates.
