Fairfax County GIS and Mapping Services Office then develops these maps annually, based on hand annotation by Facilities Planning. Fairfax County GIS then digitizes these maps in to the GIS system.       Attribute Accuracy Report:
        While no tests exist for accuracy, staff occasionally finds errors in the data (in addition to annual updates). Any corrections or updates are relayed to the Fairfax County GIS and Mapping Services Office by phone, or by hand annotated maps. Updates are done on an annual basis (usually in mid-summer), in addition to ongoing corrections as needed.

Each school's attendance area (boundary) is enclosed by one boundary line, except in cases where a school has an attendance area not contiguous with the primary boundary area (an "island").         This data set includes over 30 layers of attributed vector map data that were derived primarily from the Fairfax County 1"= 2000' and 1"= 4000' Wall Map Series.

        The GIS Wall Map CD in Coverage format sells for $25.

        A hard copy of our *wall maps are available at the Fairfax County Government Publications Center located at the Fairfax County Government Center Building - 12000 Government Center Pw.- Fairfax - VA. - Suite 156 - Phone # 703-324-2974 or 703-324-2975. Prices range from $1.50 to $15.00.

        * Some of our hard copy maps are not for sale to the public or may be out of stock. Contact the Fairfax County Publication Center on the availabilty of which maps can be purchased.
