The contours are 5 foot intervals and are broken down into 9 different types. These include index, intermediate, index depression, intermediate depression, indefinite area index, indefinite area intermediate, indefinite area depression index, and indefinite area depression intermediate and hidden. The indefinite area contours are contours that cross into an area where the ground was difficult to see in the model due to dense trees or construction. The hidden portion of contours are under buildings and where the contour annotation is placed or where contours become very close due to very steep slope. Purpose: The contours were created as a visual guide to where elevation changes occur within 5 feet. The accuracy of the contours comply with the United States National Map Accuracy Standards. The contours have an accuracy of 2.5 feet for 90% of the features. The elevation attributes were check by randomly selecting a set and sending surveyors into the field to verify the positional accuracy of the locations. Automated routines and visual checking procedures developed by Engineering Systems were used to check the attributes. Logical Consistency Report: Segments making up the outer and inner boundaries of a polygon tie end-to-end to completely enclose the area. No duplicate features exist. Intersecting lines are separated into individual line segments at the point of intersection. All nodes are represented by a single coordinate pair, which indicates the beginning or end of a line segment. Logical consistency was tested by visual inspection and automated quality control procedures. Positional Accuracy: Horizontal Positional Accuracy: Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report: Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data is tested by random field verification of known points. Data was also compared to the digital terrain model by overlaying the contours with the tins and spot checking elevations.
