New Turf Field at Jackson Middle School
A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new artificial turf field at Jackson Middle School will be held on Saturday, September 17, at 8 a.m. at Jackson Middle School.
The artificial turf field at Jackson was funded through a partnership comprising the Fairfax County School Board, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Providence District representative Linda Q. Smyth, Edens & Avant, Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services and the Fairfax County Park Authority.
The new field, which will be used by both students and community members, meets regulation size requirements for football, lacrosse and soccer. The addition of the artificial turf field at Jackson brings to 14 the number of artificial turf fields in FCPS. The Fairfax County Park Authority currently has 24 turf fields which brings the total number of turf fields in the county for community use to 38.
