Newly Expanded Lorton Park & Ride
FAIRFAX CONNECTOR Bus Route 383 will begin providing service to the Lorton Park & Ride lot on Monday, Jan. 27, 2003. The Park & Ride will be added to Route 383 but the time schedule will not be affected. Route 383 operates weekday express service from Lorton to the Pentagon. The cash fare from Lorton Park & Ride to the Pentagon is $2 on FAIRFAX CONNECTOR Route 383, and the cash fare on the return trip is just $1.15 if you have a rail transfer from Metro.
Lorton Park & Ride recently underwent significant expansion, growing from 90 parking spaces to 170 parking spaces. The lot re-opened in October 2002 after improvements were completed by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The Park & Ride lot now offers 20 bicycle lockers, bus shelter, kiss-and-ride area and is fully lighted. To reserve a bicycle locker, call the VDOT Bike Locker Program at 703-383-2233.
Lorton Park & Ride is located at the intersection of Lorton Road and Gunston Cove Road, just off Exit 163 on Interstate 95. Commuters can enjoy easy access to I-95, and carpoolers or vanpoolers can share a 14-minute ride to the Pentagon on the HOV lanes (or a 20-minute ride to the District). Also nearby are service stations, convenience stores and the Amtrak Auto Train.
