Planning Commission TV Program
Debuts Thursday, Feb. 13
Beginning this Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m., Fairfax County Cable Channel 16 will initiate a new series, “The Planning Commission Roundtable,” a 30-minute program for citizens, land owners, community associations and developers who wish to gain a better understanding of the Fairfax County Planning Commission’s role in land use planning and development in the county. Discussion topics will change monthly and will include programs on residential density criteria, the revised Capital Improvement Program and revitalization efforts in various areas of the county, to name a few. Viewers can also submit questions of general interest on the land use process by mail or e-mail to be addressed in future programs.
This first monthly broadcast is a roundtable discussion moderated by Peter Murphy, chairman of the Fairfax County Planning Commission, and includes presentations by Barbara J. Lippa, executive director, and Sara Robin Hardy, assistant director, of the Fairfax County Planning Commission Office. The participants will discuss duties of the Commission, composition and current membership, as well as the organization and responsibilities of the Commission staff. The legal notification process for public hearings is also addressed. This program is an excellent resource for Fairfax County residents who wish to gain a better understanding of the county’s land use process, the Planning Commission’s role and how to voice support for, or concerns with, an application for development in and around their community.
