Springfield District Supervisor Hosts Town Meetings
Supervisor Elaine McConnell will be hosting two Springfield District Town Meetings this month and encourages residents to attend. The first meeting will be held Monday, March 17, 7 p.m., at West Springfield High School, 6100 Rolling Road, Springfield, while the second meeting will be held Tuesday, March 18, also at 7 p.m., in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.
Speakers at the March 17 meeting will include County Executive Anthony H. Griffin, Fairfax County Chief Financial Officer Edward Long, Captain Dorian Portee of the West Springfield District Police Station and Janet Coldsmith of the Department of Tax Administration. The same speakers will attend the meeting March 18, except Captain Dennis Wilson, the station commander at the Fair Oaks Police Station will be on hand in the place of Captain Portee. The town meeting on March 18 will be telecast live on Cable Channel 16.
The focus of each of these meetings will be public safety, the recently announced FY2004 advertised budget and tax assessments. Citizens can introduce additional topics to be discussed during the question and answer period.
