And The Survey Says . .
Between now and September, Fairfax County residents can visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes to offer their opinions via
an online survey about solid waste management in the county. The survey
is part of the process to develop a Solid Waste Management Plan to guide
the county in the next 20 years. The survey has 24 questions and takes
about 10 minutes to complete. Survey questions range from asking about
curbside recycling to opinions about the cost of trash collection.
Through this solid waste management planning process, the county hopes
to evaluate waste disposal capacity, increase the efficiency of the waste
management system, develop long-term projections and protect the
environment. The planning process also includes a series of public
meetings held from April through November 2003 at locations throughout
Fairfax County. Citizens are encouraged to attend the public meetings
because their input is essential to make the planning process a success.
