FAIRFAX CONNECTOR Bus Service Announces
A Staged Closure of Service for Thursday, Sept. 18
Due to concerns about passenger and operator safety associated with predicted high winds from Hurricane Isabel, FAIRFAX CONNECTOR will stop operating bus service at noon on Thursday, Sept. 18. FAIRFAX CONNECTOR will coordinate with Metro in order to bring passengers from the Metrorail stations back to Fairfax County neighborhoods.
Metrorail will stop taking passengers at 11 a.m. Passengers who are already on-board Metrorail at that time may travel no further than the stations at the end of the line. At that point, at approximately noon, FAIRFAX CONNECTOR buses will board passengers from the last train and make a final trip on out-bound routes.
The decision to close is being made for public safety reasons and in consultation with the federal government, Metro and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments to ensure that no passengers are stranded. FAIRFAX CONNECTOR bus service will remain closed until further notice. Commuters are encouraged to stay home during this severe weather, and stay tuned to local news media.
FAIRFAX CONNECTOR will continue to make announcements throughout the duration of the storm. For more information, call the FAIRFAX CONNECTOR Information Center at 703-339-7200, TTY 703-339-1608, or visit the Web site at www.fairfaxconnector.com.
