FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Fairfax County to Close on Oct. 17
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center located at the
South County Center, 8350 Richmond Highway, Suite 125, Alexandria, will
close permanently at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. The center has been open
since Oct. 6 to assist those who suffered losses and damages as a result
of Hurricane Isabel.
Individuals may still apply for disaster assistance by calling the
toll-free number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585 to register
with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency
Management Agency. The phone lines are open from 7 a.m. to midnight
daily. The deadline for individuals and businesses to register for
assistance is Nov. 17, 2003.
Individuals who wish to visit any of the Disaster Recovery Centers that
remain open throughout disaster declared jurisdictions in Virginia can
locate them by calling FEMA’s toll-free number at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362),
TTY 1-800-462-7585. The locations can also be found through the Virginia
Department of Emergency Management’s Web site at www.vaemergency.com.
