Dulles Rail Petition Goes to Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
At the regular board meeting on Monday, Jan. 26, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will consider scheduling a public hearing requesting the creation of a Phase I Dulles Rail Transportation Improvement District.
On Wednesday, Jan. 21, a petition was submitted to the clerk to the board requesting the creation of this proposed tax district. This petition is believed to meet the statutory requirements for such a petition, including that it appears to be signed by the owners of at least 51 percent of the commercial and industrial real property within the proposed district as measured by current assessed value. Upon receipt of such a petition, applicable law requires the board to take certain procedural steps, including setting a date for a public hearing on the question of creating the proposed district and authorizing public notice of that hearing.
In keeping with the applicable law, as an action item on Monday's board agenda, the board will be asked to set a public hearing for Feb. 23, at 6 p.m., on the question of creating the proposed tax district.
