"Citizen's Guide to the 2004 North County Area Plans Review" Now Available
Fairfax County has initiated a review of the Comprehensive Plan relating to the northern half of the county and has published "The Citizen's Guide to the 2004 North County Area Plans Review." This booklet is now available on the Department of Planning and Zoning Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz. In addition, printed copies are available at the DPZ Planning Division office, the Planning Commission office and at each supervisor's district office.
The 2004 North County Area Plans Review process will focus on the part of the county that includes Dranesville, Hunter Mill, Providence and Sully supervisor districts. The Comprehensive Plan is the guide used by the community, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors to make decisions about the county's built and natural environments. This five-volume document consists of the Policy Plan and four Area Plans.
For the 2004 APR process, proposals for changes to the Area Plans volumes of the Comprehensive Plan, called "nominations," may be submitted to the Planning Commission office between April 12 and May 21, using the form included in the "Citizen's Guide." Instructions for filing a nomination, opportunities for citizen participation and details of the Area Plans Review process are also provided in the "Citizen's Guide."
The 2005 South County Area Plans Review will address the remainder of the districts: Braddock, Lee, Mason, Mount Vernon and Springfield. The Comprehensive Plan is available on the DPZ Web page and at the reference desks of county libraries.
