Solid Waste Meeting Reminder
The last two public meetings to seek resident input on Fairfax County's draft Solid Waste Management Plan will be Thursday, March 18, at 7 p.m., at the Reston Community Center, 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston, and Saturday, March 20, at 10 a.m., at the Mason District Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale.
The meeting format will consist of a brief overview of the draft plan with time for audience questions and comments. Issues to be discussed include waste generation rates, residential trash collection, recycling requirements, public outreach, use of the waste-to-energy facility after 2011, handing of construction and demolition debris, and the future capacity of the transfer and disposal facilities.
Additional information about the plan is available at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/swmp for review prior
to the meetings. A final public hearing will be held in May during a
regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting. If you have questions
