General District Court Judge Sworn In
Mitchell I. Mutnick of Burke was sworn in on May 21 as a new judge in the Fairfax County General District Court. He was elected by the Virginia General Assembly to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Richard T. Horan.
A graduate of the George Mason University School of Law, Mutnick was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1984. He has been a sole practitioner since 1984.
Mutnick has been a resident of Fairfax County since 1976. Prior to being admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1984, he worked for the Congressional Budget Office.
The Fairfax County General District Court hears traffic violations, criminal misdemeanors, civil suits of $15,000 or less, and small claims cases. It also conducts preliminary hearings in felony cases.
