Starting Friday, June 11, at the Government Center, There'll be Unlimited Fun - but Limited Parking
The show must go on — but so must citizens’ ability to conduct business with the county. Because Celebrate Fairfax! will pitch its tents on Friday, June 11, visitor parking at the Government Center will be extremely limited, bus routes will be adjusted and some roads and entrances will be closed. Every effort has been made to minimize the impact on citizens’ access to the building — while providing a festive celebration. Once the magic fades and the tents are struck, it will be business as usual at the Government Center on Monday, June 14.
With the county’s award-winning Web site, however, there is no need for citizens to get on the road to the Government Center — just to get online instead. Residents can do everything from renewing library books to paying property taxes at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/eservices. For those wishing to obtain vehicle decals or pay their taxes, visit the county’s Department of Tax Administration at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dta.
Road Closures Starting Thursday, June 10
Starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, until 6 a.m. Monday, June 14,
the central vehicle entrance to the Government Center, located at the
intersection of Post Forest Road and Government Center Parkway, will be
closed. Starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 11, the north entrance to the
Government Center will be closed until Monday at 6 a.m. (This is the
entrance located nearest the intersection of Monument Drive and
Government Center Parkway.) From 6 p.m. Friday, June 11, until 6 a.m.
Monday, June 14, Government Center Parkway will be closed between
Monument Drive and Post Forest Road.
Visitor Parking on Friday, June 11
On Friday, June 11, visitors will find parking in the lot on the left,
closest to the building. If no spaces are available, visitors will be
directed elsewhere by security officers. On Friday, please be aware that
cars will only be able to enter the Government Center from the south
entrance at Forum Drive. All other entrances will be closed.
