Public Can Sign Up to Attend John Allen Muhammad's Arraignment Hearing
The arraignment hearing for John Allen Muhammad, a/k/a John Allen Williams, is scheduled for Tuesday, June 22, at 10 a.m. in courtroom 5E of the Jennings Judicial Center, located at 4110 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax. The Fairfax County Sheriff's Office is establishing a sign-up list for public seating for this hearing. Members of the public who are interested in attending this hearing will be asked to sign up in person at the Judicial Center on June 22. Persons who sign up will be required to show identification.
The sign-up list will be available at the information desk on the main level of the Jennings Building beginning at 7 a.m. Courtroom seating will be offered to individuals on the list on a first-come, first-served basis. However, being on the list does not guarantee access to the courtroom as the total number of public seats available cannot be determined until the morning of June 22. Priority seating will be given to law enforcement officials, victims and victims' family members.
Courtroom doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and observers who have been allocated a seat in the courtroom must be seated by 9:30 a.m. In order to limit disruptions in the courtroom, all observers are asked to remain seated until the hearing ends or the judge calls for a recess. If you must leave the courtroom you will not be allowed to re-enter until the court recesses. If there is a waiting list for members of the public who were not able to be seated, your seat may be given to next person on the list.
The Judicial Center opens at 7 a.m. and there is a cafeteria on the lower level which also opens at 7 a.m. There will be two security screening stations; one as you enter the building and another at the entrance to the courtroom. Individuals will need to allow adequate time to go through these screening stations prior to entering the courtroom.
