Transfers from bus-to-bus will continue to be honored, but passengers will have to pay the difference in fares if transferring from FAIRFAX CONNECTOR to Metrobus or any other bus system with higher fares. Transfers from rail-to-bus may be used to discount FAIRFAX CONNECTOR bus fares to 35 cents on all local routes and to $2.10 on express routes 383, 384, 385 and 989.

Passengers age 65 or older and passengers with a disability who have a Metro ID or Medicare card will pay the same fare after June 27 as they pay today. The fare for local bus service will continue to be 50 cents and the fare for express bus service on routes 383, 384, 385 and 989 will continue to be $1. Seniors and disabled passengers may ride FAIRFAX CONNECTOR for free with a valid rail-to-bus transfer.

A special bus fare discount program on bus routes in the Richmond Highway Corridor is ending at the same time as the June 27 fare changes. This program was effective only for one year. The special Richmond Highway Corridor Bus Fare Buydown program offered a discounted fare of 50 cents on FAIRFAX CONNECTOR routes 105, 106 and 107, and Metrobus 9A. The fare on these four bus routes will return to the new base fares on June 27.

Public meetings regarding the county's proposed budget took place in April at the Fairfax County Government Center in order to receive public testimony and input regarding the proposed fare changes.
