VDOT Nova District Administrator
Retiring
Thomas F. Farley, the Virginia Department of Transportation district
administrator for the Northern Virginia District will be recognized for
his dedicated, noteworthy and committed service to the residents of
Fairfax County. Farley began his career in Virginia in 1978 as the
Culpeper district administrator, overseeing the Northern Virginia
District maintenance operations and directing Northern Virginia’s
planning program. As the Northern Virginia district administrator, Farley
managed a transportation program comparable in size to several states,
managing a budget of more than $600 million and 1,300 employees in the
counties of Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William. Important initiatives he
has led include the creation of the Smart Traffic Center in Northern
Virginia, the Capital Beltway Safety Study, the Dulles Rail-Tysons Corner
Co-location Study and the Route 1 Corridor Study.
Clyde’s Restaurant Group Hosts Strawberry
Festival
Event proceeds benefit the Walker Nature
Education Center in Reston
Clyde’s Restaurant Group and the organizers of the Clyde’s
Strawberry Festival will be recognized for hosting a strawberry festival
and donating 100 percent of the proceeds - $40,000 - to benefit the
construction of Nature House, a year-round teaching facility located at
the Walker Nature Education Center, Reston. Activities during the two-day
event included music, hands-on activities for kids, live animal shows and
strawberry treats for every imagination.
