Jenkins Appointed Director of Department of Public Works and Environmental Services
Fairfax County Executive Anthony H. Griffin has appointed Jimmie D. Jenkins, P.E. as director of the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services. Jenkins has been serving as acting director since March.
Jenkins has more than 30 years in the utility profession, including 22 years of senior level leadership and management of the Fairfax County Wastewater Management Program. He started work with the county as a structural engineer in the building department, reviewing plans for compliance with the building code, and retired in 2001 as the assistant director of DPWES' Office of Waste Management. After his retirement from the county, he served as the director of the Water Technology Center for Parsons, and as the senior client service manager for CH2M Hill Companies, Ltd., serving the greater Washington, D.C. area for their Northeast Region Water Business Group. Jenkins graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S in civil engineering and an M.S. in environmental engineering.
Jenkins' appointment is effective Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, and his salary
