Special Debris Collection for Pleasant Valley and Country Club Manor
Residents of the Pleasant Valley and Country Club Manor subdivisions affected by the tornado will have a final special debris pickup on Saturday, Oct. 9. Fairfax County continues to assist residents in the affected areas of the Pleasant Valley and Country Club Manor subdivisions in the Sully District following the tornado that occurred Friday, Sept. 17. The county has already removed approximately 195 tons of debris, primarily trees and tree debris.
This Saturday’s special trash pickup will begin at 7 a.m. and residents are asked to have debris at curbside by that time. Construction debris must be separated from brush/tree debris. Materials should be placed at the curb in an accessible location away from obstructions, such as parked cars and fire hydrants. Avoid placement of materials under overhead wires that may prevent equipment and staff from accessing debris.
Small amounts of material may also be disposed through your normal trash collection company. Follow the normal guidelines provided by your trash hauler and prepare any tree limbs and debris according to their standards for collection.
Residents can also take their trash, debris and recyclables to the facilities at the I-66 Transfer Station, 4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax or the I-95 Landfill, 9850 Furnace Road, Lorton. A fee will be charged for materials disposed of at either facility.
For more information on the trash pickup, call
the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services at
703-324-5230, TTY 711. A special resource page has also been established
on the county Web site – www.fairfaxcounty.gov/emergency/pleasantvalley/
– where residents of the two neighborhoods affected by the tornado can
find additional information.
