What: Community Association Workshop

Braddock District Supervisor Sharon Bulova and the Braddock District Council are conducting a Community Association Workshop, which will discuss four issues of importance to civic and homeowner associations. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. in the Kings Park Library Community Meeting Room and Supervisor Bulova’s Braddock Hall, both at 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke.
Fairfax County Board Chairman Gerald E. Connolly will be the keynote speaker for the workshop. Other speakers will be Merni Fitzgerald, director of the county’s Office of Public Affairs; Michael Congleton, deputy zoning administrator, Fairfax County Zoning Enforcement Branch; Robert Mizer, volunteer liaison, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department; Officer Rex Pagerie, crime prevention officer, West Springfield District Police Station; and Laurie L. Dolson, Law Offices of Laurie L. Dolson, P.C.
Topics to be discussed during the workshop include community association liabilities and insurance needs, CERT and Neighborhood Watch programs, enforcing zoning regulations and covenants, and communication tools, such as community association newsletters, Web sites, directories and automated e-mail distribution lists.
