Fairfax County Court Services Director Wins Award

James Dedes, director of court services for the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, has been unanimously selected to receive the Juvenile Court Administrator Award given by the National Juvenile Court Services Association. The award recognizes court administrators who make significant contributions to their courts and to the communities being served. Dedes will be presented with the award in May during a program in Lake Tahoe, California.

Dedes has more than 35 years of experience within the field of juvenile justice in Fairfax County and the state of Maryland. In his capacity as court director, Dedes is responsible for providing efficient and effective probation and residential services which promote positive behavior change for the children, adults and families who come within the court’s authority.

Dedes has demonstrated outstanding leadership and significant management skills in the development of a service delivery system in Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a result of the leadership skills and vision of Dedes, the court services unit is considered a leader among the nation’s juvenile and domestic relations district courts in improving the lives of youth, adults and families, reducing the incidents of delinquent behavior and holding offenders accountable, both juveniles and adults, for their behavior while simultaneously ensuring the safety of the public.
