Learn About the County’s Budget, Real-Life Heroes and Children’s
Nutrition on the March Edition of “County Magazine”
On “County Magazine” this month, viewers will learn about everything from the county’s proposed budget to real-life heroes to proper nutrition for children.
Fairfax County Executive Anthony H. Griffin recently submitted his FY 2006 budget proposal, and “County Magazine” will present the highlights from his plan.
Viewers will also meet real-life heroes from this year’s Valor Awards, which are given to members of the county’s Fire and Rescue Department, Police Department and Sheriff’s Office. “County Magazine” will feature the county’s new Alternative Emergency Operation Center that’s helping keep our neighborhoods safe.
Gang prevention, intervention and suppression were the topics for a recent summit at the county’s Government Center, and viewers will see what community groups, elected officials and county employees discussed.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, viewers will discover how the county’s Commission For Women tackles issues affecting women and girls, such as domestic violence, and educational and workplace equality.
Plus, March is National Nutrition Month. Viewers will learn how childcare providers can win prizes for preparing healthy meals and snacks for children in their care.
“County Magazine,” with host Gail Eskew, can be viewed on Channel 16 each Monday at 7 p.m.; Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The program may also be viewed on the Internet anytime during the month through Channel 16’s video-on-demand service at www.fairfaxcounty.gov.
