Department of Planning and Zoning Staff Reports
The Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning has published the staff reports for the 2004 North County Area Plans Review. The North County includes Dranesville, Hunter Mill, Providence and Sully Districts. These reports contain the staff recommendations for Area Plans Review nominations to amend the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan is a guide used by the community, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors to make decisions about the county’s built and natural environment. For each nomination, the staff report contains background information, analysis and a recommendation. These reports are available to the public and are provided to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors for use in the public hearings process. Based on the actions of the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors, the recommendations may result in Comprehensive Plan amendments.
The staff reports have been posted on the Area Plans Review section of the Department of Planning and Zoning Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/apr. In addition, the Web page includes a variety of information such as a summary of the nomination process. Also on the Web page are supervisor district maps that show the general location of the nominations, as well as the schedules for the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors public hearings and mark-up meetings.
In addition to the information available on the Web, copies of the staff report are also available at the Department of Planning and Zoning Planning Division office at the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Suite 730, Fairfax. Office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional copies are available at the Dranesville District office, 1437 Balls Hill Road, Mclean; Hunter Mill District office, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive, Reston; Providence District office, 8739 Lee Highway, Fairfax; and Sully District office, 4900 Stonecroft Boulevard, Chantilly.
