New Schedule Announced for the Review of the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Policy Plan Element, Parks and Recreation Section
In order to fully consider public testimony provided at a Planning
Commission public hearing held on March 16, the Planning Commission
deferred its decision on the proposed countywide Comprehensive Plan
Amendment to the Parks and Recreation section of the Policy Plan element
until Thursday, May 12, at 8:15 p.m. Any comments received until that
date will be considered by the Planning Commission.
A second public hearing before the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for Monday, June 6, at 4 p.m. in the Board Auditorium of the Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.
The proposed amendment integrates modifications to the Parks and Recreation section of the county’s Policy Plan, including policies addressing the balanced provision of recreation facilities and open space, protection of natural and cultural resources and mitigation of impacts to the county’s parklands. The amendment incorporates changes to the Park Classification System and provides service-level standards for parkland and park facilities.
