Land Use and Planning Seminar Set For June 21
Providence District Sponsoring Final
Seminar in Series
The final seminar in a four-part series on land use and planning in Fairfax County will be held on Tuesday, June 21, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Fairhill Elementary School cafeteria, 3001 Chichester Lane, Fairfax.
The free seminar is open to the public and participants will learn about park planning, public school planning and tree preservation in the county. Kirk Holley from the Fairfax County Park Authority will speak about park planning and staff from the public schools will offer an overview of the school planning process. Additionally, Mike Knapp, with the Fairfax County Urban Forest Management Division, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, will give a presentation about tree preservation.
UrbanTrans, the transportation demand management consultant for the Metro West rezoning application, will present its findings and be available to answer questions about the completed study. A copy of the UrbanTrans report is available on the Providence District Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/gov/bos/pd for review prior to its presentation on June 21.
The seminar series is sponsored by the Providence District Supervisor’s Office in partnership with the Fairfax Coalition for Smarter Growth, FairGrowth and the Sierra Club.
