The travel demand forecasts and analysis, which provide insight into the future performance of the countywide transportation system, could be incorporated into the revision of the Transportation Plan. The workshops offer the public an opportunity to participate in the selection of additional alternatives for transportation network improvements and land use development.
The Transportation Plan is an element in the Policy Plan of the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan. In 2004, the county started a review of the Transportation Plan to update policies guiding long-term system improvements. At seven kickoff meetings in March 2005, members of the public assessed and discussed the Transportation Plan Update.
A series of public meetings are planned for September 2005 to review the preliminary draft of the revised Transportation Plan. Dates and locations will be announced in late summer 2005.
