Public Encouraged to Attend a Meeting
About the Vienna Metro Station Capacity Study
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, Fairfax County Department of Transportation and Providence District Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth are sponsoring a public information session as part of the ongoing study of the Vienna Metro Station’s future needs. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oakton High School cafeteria, 2900 Sutton Road, Vienna.
The event is the first public meeting held as part of the study process. Residents are strongly encouraged to offer their thoughts about the station’s future needs as community input will facilitate the capacity study. Preliminary findings on the station’s usage and demographics also will be presented.
The capacity study will be key to facilitating timely improvements to meet the station’s future needs. The study was proposed at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors’ March 21, 2005, meeting as a joint board matter by Providence District Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth and Lee District Supervisor Dana Kauffman. The Board of Supervisors approved implementation of the Vienna Metro Station Capacity Study during that meeting and included funding in the adopted fiscal year 2006 budget plan.
