Fairfax Connector Takes Extra Precautions During Code Orange
Maintains Regularly Scheduled Service
As a result of this morning's terrorist attacks in London, England, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Commonwealth of Virginia have increased the threat level from Code Yellow (elevated) to Code Orange (high) for the mass transit portion of the transportation sector. In addition to routine security measures already in place, Fairfax Connector will coordinate with the Fairfax County Police and Metro Police to take extra precautionary steps and increase vigilance throughout the Connector system, including buses, park-and-ride facilities and bus garages.
To assist during this Code Orange alert, Fairfax Connector passengers are asked to:
- Observe what others bring on the bus.
- Observe where packages and objects are placed.
- Be aware! If a passenger leaves something behind when he or she gets up to depart, immediately call it to their attention.
- Observe new people, not “regulars,” who are not relaxed or who appear uncomfortable.
- Be alert for suspicious vehicles idling near bus boarding and alighting areas.
- Call 911 if you notice something/someone suspicious at a bus stop or in a parking lot.
- Notify the bus driver if you notice something/someone suspicious on the bus.
The Fairfax Connector continues regularly scheduled weekday service. For further information or updates about Fairfax Connector service, visit www.fairfaxconnector.com or call the Fairfax Connector information line at 703-339-7200, TTY 703-339-1608.
