Basement Flooding Forces Old Courthouse to Close
The county’s old courthouse at 4000 Chain Bridge Road, in Fairfax, which houses the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, will close today at 5 p.m. due to flooding in the building’s basement. The facility will be completely shutdown to allow maintenance staff to ascertain the severity of the problem and begin repairs.
All functions, activities, meetings and programs scheduled for this evening in the old courthouse and the JDRDC are canceled. No decision has been made yet about whether the building will be open on schedule tomorrow, Wednesday, July 20.
A decision on tomorrow’s schedule will be made later this evening. Informational updates will be posted on the county’s Web site and the emergency information line at 703-817-7771, TTY 711. County residents and JDRDC employees are encouraged to call the hotline late tonight for an announcement about tomorrow’s status.
