McLean Community Connections Offers
Third Annual Dialogue for Residents

Back by popular demand, the third annual McLean Community Connections Dialogue will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean. The theme for the dialogue, “When values and principles are at stake, do we give up community harmony?” will offer people of diverse ethnic, cultural and faith backgrounds an opportunity to share their experiences and viewpoints in a safe, facilitated setting.

Participants will break out among tables of nine each with a trained facilitator to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to speak and that discussion guidelines are followed. Facilitators will structure the dialogue around the following major discussion questions:

  1. What guiding life principles are most important to you?
  2. Under what circumstances have you modified, adjusted or adapted your principles, or changed your point of view? What were the results?
  3. Under what circumstances have you held on to your principles in the face of opposition? What were the results?
  4. To what would you personally commit to enhance community connections?

The dialogue is presented by McLean Community Connections, a committee of local residents representing the diverse religious groups and ethnic populations of McLean and Great Falls. Support for the event is through a collaborative partnership with Fairfax County and local civic, nonprofit and faith communities.
