Fall 2005 Braddock District Neighborhood College
“Building a Strong Community”
The Fairfax County Department of Systems Management for Human Services, in partnership with the Fairfax County Park Authority and Kings Park Library, will host the Fall 2005 Braddock District Neighborhood College at the Kings Park Library, 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 9 p.m., beginning on Oct. 6 through Nov. 17.
Participants will learn how to work with other residents, community organizations and local government to strengthen their neighborhood and promote a strong sense of community. Through a combination of lectures, group discussions and practical experiences, participants will learn about:
- Understanding county government and how it works
- Learning the history and characteristics of your community
- Working effectively in your diverse community
- Identifying and accessing community resources
- Participating in the decision-making process
- Building community partnerships
- Becoming an effective leader in your community
Classes are free and light meals will be provided; however, class size
is limited. The deadline for registration is Thursday, Sept. 29. For
