Hunter Mill Road Area Task Force to Convene
Public Visioning Workshop Oct. 1

The Hunter Mill Road Area Special Study Task Force will hold a public visioning workshop on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Madison High School, 2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna. Residents will have an opportunity to share their vision for the special study area. To maximize the opportunity for residents to contribute, participants will work in small groups while volunteer facilitators from the area will lead the discussions. The visioning workshop will result in a written document that will be submitted to the task force in November. The process will culminate with recommendations to the Fairfax County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors in December. The county has hired CirclePoint/HNTB team to design and facilitate the public engagement process and to collaborate with the community to develop the vision document.

A follow-up open house for the public is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Madison High School to discuss the results of the Oct. 1 workshop.

The Hunter Mill Task Force, established by the Board of Supervisors, began its work in June to consider options for the study area, which may include no change, and to develop consensus around a set of recommendations. To date, the task force has reviewed background and technical information, including the guidance offered by the current Comprehensive Plan for the study area, as well as 2005 Area Plan Review nominations that were deferred to be considered within this special study. For more information about the study area, including agendas, minutes, maps and other task force documents, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/huntermill.
