Providence District Supervisor Smyth to Host VolunteerFest Events on Oct. 22
Providence District Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth will host the 2005 Providence District VolunteerFest on Saturday, Oct. 22. Celebrating “Volunteerism in Action,” public schools, county agencies, neighborhoods, nonprofits and local businesses will offer a variety of events and programs throughout the day and throughout the district. Activities will encompass food and clothing drives, a health fair, a festival — and more.
The Providence District events are in conjunction with Volunteer Fairfax’s VolunteerFest, as well as “National Make a Difference Day.”
The events and sponsors include:
- Food Drive — Supervisor Smyth and Food for Others
- Book Sale — The Friends of Oakton Library
- Health Fair — Inova Health System and Fairfax County Health Department
- New Winter Children’s Clothing Collection — Fairfax County Human Services Council and Fairfax County Public Schools
- Kingsley Park Community Day — Kingsley Park Community and Volunteer Fairfax
- Computer Recycling Day and Meditation Walk — EcoStewards Alliance
- Adopt a Soldier — James Lee Community Center and Federal Express
- Excavating the Essex — The Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation
- Merrifield Festival — Greater Merrifield Business Association
- Event Promotion — Providence Players
