Tour de Lee Encourages Families to Ride Their Bikes
Lee District Supervisor Dana Kauffman is hosting the sixth annual Tour de Lee — a free bicycle event for the entire family — on Sunday, Oct. 30. The purpose is to promote family fun and highlight the bicycling opportunities in the Lee District.
The Tour de Lee will feature three routes with varying degrees of difficulty. A 1.5-mile “family tour” starts at 11 a.m. at Beulah Park, 7119 Beulah St., Alexandria. Registration begins at 9:45 a.m. A 15-mile tour and a 30-mile tour start at 9:30 a.m. at Beulah Park, with registration opening at 8 a.m. All tours will finish at Beulah Park. Riders must wear helmets.
“We had approximately 100 people participate last year, and I’m sure this year will be an even greater success,” said Kauffman. “This will be a great opportunity to spend some quality time as a family and get some exercise at the same time.”
