Fairfax Connector Launches 20th
Anniversary Celebration on Nov. 9
The Fairfax Connector will kick off the bus system’s 20th anniversary with an early morning celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Passengers and residents are invited to join members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors at the Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride facility, 12530 Sunrise Valley Drive, Herndon, for a ceremony at 8 a.m., with refreshments served beginning at 7 a.m. The program will include the unveiling of a specially decorated anniversary bus, one of two that will travel on Connector routes throughout the year.
In the fall of 1985, 33 new Fairfax Connector buses began rolling along 10 bus routes in Fairfax County. Today that service has expanded to serve approximately 8.5 million riders per year with 170 buses traveling 57 routes.
Fairfax Connector plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary throughout the year, with more events and tributes commemorating the millions of miles traveled, the millions of passengers carried and the dedicated drivers and staff who get Fairfax Connector buses on the streets every day.
For information about 20th anniversary events, in addition to bus routes and schedules, call the Fairfax Connector Information Center at 703-339-7200, TTY 703-339-1608, or visit www.fairfaxconnector.com. There also are four Connector Stores: Tysons-West*Park Transit Station; Reston East at Wiehle Park & Ride; Herndon-Monroe Park & Ride; and Springfield Mall.
