Facility Represents Unique County, Commonwealth and Regional Partnership

A groundbreaking ceremony for the West Ox Complex will be held on Monday, Nov. 21, at 9 a.m. on-site at the former “Camp 30” location on West Ox Road across from Costco Plaza. Supervisor Elaine McConnell (Springfield District) will welcome those in attendance with keynote remarks given by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly.

The public is invited to the ceremony, which will be held rain or shine. Parking is available on-site, plus Fairfax County Connector buses will provide transportation to the ceremony from the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the Board of Supervisors along with officials from the Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia State Police and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority will conduct the official groundbreaking for the project.

West Ox Complex
The West Ox Complex is a partnership among Fairfax County, the commonwealth of Virginia and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

The West Ox project will transform the former “Camp 30” state correctional facility to a multi-agency complex featuring the county’s Department of Public Safety Communications (9-1-1 center), Office of Emergency Management, Police Forensics and a county bus operations/maintenance facility in partnership with WMATA. In addition, the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Virginia Regional Operations and Virginia State Police Division 7 call-takers and dispatchers will be co-located on-site.

The West Ox Complex will feature improved land use and the transformation of land from a state correctional facility into a multipurpose, multiagency complex. The West Ox Complex will provide critical infrastructure to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of both public safety and transportation services in the county and Northern Virginia region.
