Seventh Annual Providence District Environmental Workshop to Be Held Saturday, April 1
The seventh annual Providence District Environmental Workshop will take place on Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Fairhill Elementary School, 3001 Chichester Lane, Fairfax.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register for this free event, although registration is not required. Participants can register by calling 703-560-6946, TTY 711, or by e-mailing email@example.com.
Hosted by Providence District Supervisor Linda Q. Smyth, this workshop will offer information about low-impact and environmentally friendly development. The day’s activities include a complimentary breakfast, workshops, a tour of a low-impact development project, a panel discussion with experts and a children’s workshop.
The complimentary breakfast will be served from 9 to 9:30 a.m. More than five different workshops will be conducted by a variety of private and nonprofit organizations from 9:30 to 10 a.m. From 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., participants will be able to tour a low-impact development project installed at the parking area of the Providence District office. From 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., participants can attend a moderated panel discussion, which includes a question-and-answer session, or a children’s workshop. The Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District also will provide order forms to buy native seedlings.
Workshop presenters include Clean Fairfax Council Inc., Lands and Waters Inc., Northern Virginia Lung Association, Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District, Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, Wetlands Solution Studies and Virginia Department of Foresty.
