Fairfax County Creates Pandemic Flu Information Page
Fairfax County has created a resource page on the county’s Web site where residents can get the most up-to-date information about pandemic flu and the county’s planning efforts. The page, www.fairfaxcounty.gov/emergency/pandemicflu, includes details on the county’s planning process for pandemic flu, as well as news about upcoming events, such as the pandemic flu town meeting on April 18. It also contains helpful links, checklists and resources, county news releases on pandemic flu and information on how to stay healthy.
“We wanted to create a single Web page that included everything residents and businesses need to know about pandemic flu and the county’s response without having to click from site to site,” said Rob Stalzer, deputy county executive and co-chair of the county’s Pandemic Flu Executive Team. “This page will be that one-stop site. I encourage residents to bookmark the page so that they can stay informed on pandemic flu.”
The Web page includes links to the Fairfax County Health Department Web page, as well as the Virginia Department of Health Web site. In addition, there are links to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, World Health Organization and www.pandemicflu.gov , the federal government’s official pandemic flu Web site.
“This page is just another way we hope to better serve the residents and businesses of Fairfax County by ensuring that information is readily available about pandemic flu and how the county is preparing,” added Merni Fitzgerald, director of the Office of Public Affairs and co-chair of the county’s Critical Infrastructure and Resource Management Coordinating Committee.
