Fairfax ReLeaf Now Scheduling Fall Tree Plantings
County Has Already Met Half its Goal for Planting 2006 Trees
One month after its announcement, Fairfax County is already halfway to its goal of planting 2,006 trees on public property by the end of this year. Because of overwhelming public demand, however, Fairfax ReLeaf, which is partnering with the county to achieve its goal, is now only taking requests for fall plantings.
To request a free tree to plant this fall, county residents can contact Fairfax ReLeaf at trees@fairfaxreleaf.org or 703-324-1409, TTY 711. Please include your name, phone number, a detailed description of the potential project, including the common area where the trees will be planted, the supervisory district where you live, and whether you wish to volunteer to help plant trees. Fairfax ReLeaf will confirm orders later this summer using the contact information provided.
Preference will be given to the unfulfilled requests submitted by
residents for a spring planting.
Trees can be planted on common areas at schools, religious institutions,
neighborhoods, parks, stormwater areas and on Virginia Department of
Transportation right of ways. Most areas require permission to plant
trees, and Fairfax ReLeaf will assist residents in obtaining the
appropriate authorization.
For more information, contact Fairfax ReLeaf at 703-324-1409, TTY 711, or trees@fairfaxreleaf.org.
